web designer in Umbria: an undervalued professional figure?

November 21, 2017

In times of crisis, Umbrian companies, especially those entering foreign markets, should pay special attention to web-based communication professionals. I’m referring not only to web designers or web developers but also, and especially, to SEO or social media consultants.

However, I often hear from clients I meet or more frequently from the websites I browse that there is still no real awareness among the owners of Umbrian companies or even major tourist facilities of the innovative scope of web 3.0 and how, if properly leveraged, it can bring real benefits in terms of visibility and tangible profits. It’s no longer enough to just have a website to say: I’m on the internet!
. First and foremost, a website, after the smartphone boom, has its reason for being if developed according to specific criteria dictated by the new HTML 5 rules. So, a site built not with tables, as unfortunately still seen, but with <div> and semantic sections that Google loves. And possibly also “responsive”: with a layout that adapts when browsed with a smartphone, to the reduced display size. But even the most beautiful site in the world, technically speaking, is worth nothing if it is not properly maintained and updated through comprehensive support work. This is where the role of the web consultant, copywriter, and social media expert comes into play. Writing for the web is not like writing an article for a newspaper: you need to know some basic rules and some important <tags> to include in the text. Then you need to create a network of links, directories, and social bookmarks to support our site. But that’s still not enough!!! After the advent of Google’s new algorithm (Google Penguin), social media has extraordinary importance for the visibility and positioning of our website. So no snobbery: you need to be on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and especially Google+. But our presence must be constant and aimed at increasing the so-called branding of the company. What do you think?
